Pune: In a recent GR, the State has ordered the formation of district-wise committees under the respective district collectors to ensure the right implementation of Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj EBC Scholarship Scheme and Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Maintenance Allowance Scheme.
Under the scholarship scheme, the students will be given 50 per cent of the fees for non-professional courses and 100 per cent fees for the professional courses. Under the Hostel Maintenance Allowance Scheme, the students who have up to Rs 1 lakh per annum income will be given the hostel allowance from the year 2017-18.
The said committee will comprise the regional assistant director of technical education or the principal of the government engineering college or government polytechnic in the district, the regional assistant director of higher education or principal of the government college in the district, a representative of the Director of Medical Education and Research, representative of the agricultural or non-agricultural university in the district, representative of renowned institutes in the district, district assistant director of social welfare, district tribal development officer and district assistant director of district skill development, employment and entrepreneurship guidance centre.
The committee will be responsible for creating awareness amongst the beneficiary students about schemes.
