Overwhelming response to Sakal Drawing Competition

Pune: The Sakal Drawing Competition 2017 has received an overwhelming response from participants from across the State, the country and from abroad. The students participating in the drawing competition from Maharashtra and Goa have the opportunity to win prizes amounting to over Rs 10 lakh. The competition will be held on December 17 (Sunday) simultaneously in 2,000 schools across Maharashtra and Goa.

This is the 32nd year of the contest. The scope of the competition has been widened by including students from ashramshala, special students and students from select art colleges. There is no entry fees for the competition, which is organised for the students from Standard 1 to 10. 

The winners from each group at the state-level will receive the first prize of Rs 2,500, the second prize of Rs 2,000, the third prize of Rs 1,500 and five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each. 

The winners at the divisional level will receive the first prize of Rs 1,000, the second prize of Rs 750, the third prize of Rs 500 and five consolation prizes of Rs 250 each. The winners at the central level will receive the first prize of Rs 100, the second prize of Rs 75, the third prize of Rs 50 while five participants will get a certificate each as the consolation prize. 

The Sakal Media Group will give drawing sheets for free to direct participants in the contest. However, they will have to carry their own colour boxes and other drawing material. Details about the venue, time will be published in this newspaper. The participants have to register their names through their respective schools while participants from outside the State can register online by logging onto chitrakala.esakal.com. 

The results of the competition will be declared in January 2018. An exhibition of the drawings of the winners from the state level and the Pune division and the prize distribution will be held in Pune. Interested schools should contact the nearest Sakal office and should email the collective list of the participants on or before Tuesday (December 12) to chitrakala@esakal.com
India’s leading opticians Gangar Eyenation is the Eyecare Partner, Sri Chaitanya Techno School and Jingle Toons are the associate sponsors, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board is the Environment Partner while Indian Oil Corporation Ltd is the Corporate Partner of this competition. The competitions are powered by LIC.
