Devendra Fadnavis, the opposition leader in Maharashtra sought financial assistance for the sugar sector so that mills and cane farmers can tackle the crisis. He has requested the Centre to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP), restructuring of loans and extension of soft loans to the sugar sector.
While claiming that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will collapse due to its “internal contradictions”, Fadnavis denied there was an “Operation Lotus” underway in Maharashtra.
He further clarified that his meeting was confined to the situation raised due to COVID-19 pandemic. “As the leader of opposition in the state legislature it is my duty to visit people and understand their problem and provide help”, added Fadnavis.
He provided a group report in the meeting and also explained why cases are increasing in certain regions.
Fadnavis believes that the COVID-19 situation in the state is getting out of control and the state’s policies and its enforcement are not adequate. As per the information provided by him, Shah, head of the Group of Ministers reassured to consider the demands.
When asked about the chances for him to get into national-level politics, he said that the BJP national parliamentary board is still to be finalized and the decision of finalizing remains with senior leaders including Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP leaders Harshavardhan Patil, Dhananjay Mahadik, Ranjitsingh Mohite Patil, Ranjit Nimbalkar, Prasad Lad, Prithviraj Deshmukh and ally Jansurajya Shakti Party leader Vinay Kore were present at the meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah.
