Pune: Rajendra Jadhav (61) of Satana from Nashik has come up with an innovative sprayer mounted on a tractor, which can be used for sanitising or for washing large areas like roads, doors, walls, etc.
Jadhav has a workshop of agricultural instruments in Satana. He has manufactured this sprayer in 25 days. At present, this tractor with an innovative sprayer has been given to the Nagar Nigam for the sanitisation work in Satana.
Jadhav told Sakal Times, "As the news about Coronavirus was everywhere, I realised the need for sanitisation of roads, walls, etc and how it can be done more effectively. I have a family business of agriculture equipment. I worked on it with my sons and completed it in 25 days."
Jadhav said the machine can store 600 litres of disinfectant which can be useful in disinfecting large areas. He added that one person or driver can operate this machine.
The height of the sprayer is around 12 to 15 feet and consists of two fans of aluminium, moving opposite to each other. Each fan sucks air from two opposite directions, which is released through nozzles at high pressure with minute droplets. The total cost incurred to develop this machine is around Rs 1.75 lakh.
A 15-HP tractor (portable tractor) can be used to operate this sprayer, which also ensures less diesel consumption. Jadhav said, "I have made two machines, one is used by Satana Nagar Nigam and another one is with a friend in Dhule."
Jadhav has named this innovative sprayer ‘Yashwant’, a brand name which he uses for all the tools he develops. He has also applied for a patent for his unique sprayer and has sent his design to the National Innovation Foundation (NIF).
