Nagpur commissioner and mayor duo, nab hawkers and citizen violators of COVID-19 guidelines

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Mayor Sandeep Joshi and the NM Corporation's Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, on Tuesday, went on ground to nab the non-compliants of the basic rules that need to be followed in public places.

This is the second consecutive day that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation Mayor and commissioner duo have toured city's bounds. They visited West High Court Road, Laxmi Bhuvan Chowk, Gokulpeth Bazar, Ramnagar area and implored everyone follow the guidelines given by the government.

The mayor warned traders and citizens that irresponsible behavior would once again lead to a lockout in the city. He also appealed to shopkeepers to follow the rules of even and odd dates, wear masks and observe social distancing.

A crowd of customers was seen at Mangalkar Jewelers at Laxmi Bhuvan Chowk. The mayor instructed the 'nuisance search team' to recover the fine from the shop owner.

Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe instructed the people in Sadar, Mangalwari Bazar, Indora, Nara, Jaripatka, Kasturchand Park, and Central Avenue areas to follow the rules in the evening. He imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on shopkeepers who did not follow the rules. Action was taken against Raymond's shop at Kasturchand Park in Nagpur. Many people were riding without a mask, while some were riding a double seat on two-wheelers.

These violators were prosecuted by the police.
