Mumbai Ganeshotsav 2020: Now book online slots for Ganesh Visarjan

Ganpati Visarjan (the 10th day of the Ganesh Festival) every year witlessness a huge crowd in Mumbai with people flock to the beaches for the immersion process. This year in the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has mandated Ganeshotsav Mandals and people to book a slot for visarjan online. Devotees and Ganeshotsav mandals will have to book their online slot on www.shreeganeshvisarjan.com.  

The novel virus has already made an impact on the festive season. As Ganeshotsav is a few days away, authorities in Mumbai are gearing up to ensure the crowds don't gather in large numbers. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has instructed Ganeshotsav Mandals and people to book a slot for visarjan online. BMC has launched a website for the same purpose.

If anyone wants to carry out visarjan, they will have to mention a date, time and place. The civic body will then examine the applications and allot slots. Every year, about 50 lakh people come out on the day of Ganesh Visarjan. However, the administration has made stern guidelines in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. The guidelines and proposed measures are aimed at limiting the crowd.

Ganpati Festival, one of the most-awaited festivals in Maharashtra is celebrated in huge grandeur. Cities such as Mumbai, Pune witness a huge crowd during the 10-day festival. However, the festival this year will be a low key affair amid the novel coronavirus. 

The festival is just around the corner. However, with the ongoing crisis of the contagion, the authorities are churning out ways to mark the festival in a safe environment. This year, for idol immersion, artificial lakes will be installed for each of wards in Mumbai. The administration also planned on requesting people to hand over their idols for immersion at their building. 

Ganesh Chaturthi, the ten-day festival will start on August 22. Moreover, the height of the idols this year has been restricted to four feet. In July, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey had also requested mandals to avoid the crowd and concentrate on online darshan.
