Pune: The Pune Regional Passport Office has launched a mobile passport police app (mPassport Police App), in Sangli for speedy submission of the Police Verification Report (PVR) on January 26.
"This technology-driven initiative will help to have faster police verification and reduce the time taken by the police for verification," said Jayant D Vaishampayan, Regional Passport Officer.
According to a passport official, the mPassport Police App will reduce the time period for receiving the passport. Also, the citizens applying for a passport will not require visiting police station for verification.
It will be police officers, equipped with tabs, who will contact the applicants, visit them at the address mentioned on the application, verify and scan essential documents, upload the documents on the tabs and forward it online for further procedure.
