MNS plaint against lack of Marathi signboard

MUMBAI: After inquiry of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray by Enforcement Directorate (ED), the party complained to the district collector against ED that the signboard at ED office has to be displayed in local language (Marathi).

The ED had summoned Raj Thackeray for inquiry on Thursday, in connection with a case linked to the collapse of shadow bank Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services and he was questioned for more than nine hours.

While ED officials were questioning Raj Thackeray, his followers and MNS workers were standing around the ED office and noticed that there is no board in Marathi at the office premises.

On Friday, the MNS sent a letter to the district collector complaining that there is a rule, that all establishments have to display the boards in local language. The same letter forwarded to the ED.

The party also asked the Marathi Language Department that would it direct the ED to display the boards in Marathi?  Earlier, the MNS had started an agitation against non-Marathi signboards of shops.MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar said there is a rule that all boards of establishments in Mumbai should be written in Marathi. He wanted to know why the ED was not following rule.
