Maharashtra: Energy minister stresses on HVDS to provide farmers daytime power supply

Mumbai: In a meeting on Wednesday, Maharashtra state energy minister Nitin Raut said, "In order to provide daytime power supply to the farmers, the work of CM Solar Agriculture Corridor should be completed expeditiously and the work of High Pressure Distribution System (HVDS) scheme should also be hurried"

A review meeting of various works and schemes of Pune Regional Division was held at Mantralaya in Mumbai. Energy Minister Dr Raut was heading the meeting. The Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra transport, Dinesh Waghmare was the chief guest. In this meeting, Energy Minister Dr Raut gave important instructions to the senior officers regarding smooth power supply and electricity bills.

Dr Raut has directed that various schemes started in Pune Regional Division should be implemented effectively and expeditiously and the quality of work being carried out by the contractors should be supervised. He directed that an ample number of electricity meters should be made available to the consumers to provide new connections promptly and also to satisfy the customers by resolving all the grievances related to electricity bills.

Minister Dr Raut said, "Prompt action should be taken against the contractors who do not complete the work of providing new power connections to the agricultural pumps on time through the High Pressure Distribution System (HVDS) scheme. Solar Krishi Pump Yojana and other schemes currently in operation should be connected to agricultural customers as per the waiting list. Schemes for connecting farmers should be well categorized to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes should be implemented effectively. Also, the farmers who could not be selected for the connection of agricultural pumps from any contacts and the required documents should be fulfilled and the plan of solar agricultural pumps for 7.5 HP capacity should be checked."
