Maharashtra Police to prepare lists of officers with dubious integrity

Pune: All district commissionerates in the State have been ordered by the Director General of Police (DGP) to prepare lists of officers with ‘doubtful integrity’ and those who have complaints or suspicions of being dishonest against them.

The lists are prepared every year to avoid giving the officers postings in sensitive places. The names have to be submitted by June 30. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) may investigate officers whose names appear in the lists, which will be prepared for the year 2017-18.

The names will include officers that were awarded departmental penalties on charges of lack of integrity and dereliction of duty. They will also include officers against whom courts have given judgements like conviction, acquittal or fines. The list will be examined by a committee headed by the unit chief before being forwarded.

According to officials, the lists are intended to ensure that officials of doubtful integrity are not posted to sensitive assignments. This fact is given due consideration when deciding administrative matters affecting their service and also to focus on the need of special attention and close supervision and scrutiny of the work of such officials.
