MUMBAI: The Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will contest all 48 seats in Maharashtra in an alliance. State president of SP Abu Asim Azami announced on Tuesday that both the parties will contest the election on the lines of their understanding in Uttar Pradesh.
Azmi announced the alliance with BSP and decision to contest 48 seats in the state in a press conference in Mumbai. BSP General Secretary Dr Ashok Siddharth and SP spokesperson Abdul Kadir Chaudhary were present.
Azmi said that the SP-BSP alliance will field candidates from all 48 seats. “BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin. Hence, we are aiming to defeat BJP and Congress. We will decide on seat sharing in next two three days,” he said.
“BSP is a party working for the depressed people. The Congress and BJP have never given justice to this class,” said Dr Siddharth.
