Latur: COVID-19 cases rise after godman makes people drink a rare mixture

Latur: There are a number of superstitions about the coronavirus which are surfacing the internet since the outbreak.

One such superstitious incident has taken place in a small village of the Latur district. People in the Sarola village of Ausa taluka tested positive citizens after the Godman allegedly consumed a liquid mixed with lemon and Kumkum and also asked people to consume to avoid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to police officials, "The incident took place in Latur based Sarola village in Ausa taluka. The local villager had gathered in a temple for an annual ceremony. The Godman who was found COVID-19 positive blown lemons and kumkum on people and claimed that it can cure of the infection. He also gave prasad to the villagers. The villagers started falling ill and approached the primary health centre after the two days. In all 20 people had contracted with the virus."

"After getting information about this incident, there was a chaos in Sarola village and the village police patrol has registered a case against the Godman with the Ausa police station. Strict action is being demanded against the people,” the police officials added.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus in Latur has gone up to 493. Of them, 252 have been released from the hospital and 214 are undergoing treatment. The state recorded 224 deaths on Tuesday. This includes 64 from Mumbai and 27 from Pune.
