Pune: Though the northern part of the country is experiencing cold weather and heavy snowfall, cities in the State may experience hotter days and nights in the coming week. On Sunday, the lowest minimum temperature reported in Maharashtra was 9 degrees Celsius at Jalgaon. The minimum temperatures across various cities has been rising in the past few days.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), till January 10, the weather across Maharashtra and Goa will remain dry.
The night temperature may witness a steady rise.
Pune on Sunday reported day temperature at 30.9 degrees Celsius and the night temperature was 10.3 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has predicted that in the city night temperature will be around 10 degrees Celsius till January 12 and the day temperature will be around 29 degrees Celsius. Till January 12, the sky will remain clear.
Cyclonic storm Pabuk
According to the IMD officials, ‘Pabuk’ over Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards and lay centered on Sunday morning which is about 210 km east-southeast of Port Blair. Due to unfavourable conditions, the system is very likely to weaken into a deep depression by Sunday evening. It will further break into a depression during subsequent 12 hours.
It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and cross Andaman Islands by Sunday night as a deep depression with a wind speed of 55 to 65 kmph, gusting to 75 kmph. Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-northwestwards and then recurve northeastwards towards Myanmar coast and weaken gradually, said the IMD.
