HSC results: Admirable performance by specially-abled students across Maharashtra with 93.57 per cent result

Out of the total 6,356 students appearing for the exam, 5,947 students have passed. The pass percentage of these students is 93.57, which is 3 per cent more than the regular students.

Pune: Nearly 6,000 disabled students across the Maharashtra state have achieved success in the Class XII examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Board,  despite suffering from 22 different ailments. These included blindness, deafness, mental illness, multiple disabilities, learning disability and neuralgia amongst others.

Out of the total 6,356 students appearing for the exam, 5,947 students have passed. The pass percentage of these students is 93.57, which is 3 per cent more than the regular students.

As per the decision of the state government, the disabled students have been divided into a total of 22 groups. Accordingly, it is necessary to provide the necessary facilities to these students during their HSC and SSC examination. These include partial or complete blindness, visual impaired, spastics, deafness, language and speech impairment, osteoporosis, mental illness, presidency disability, cerebral palsy, autism, multiple disabilities, leprosy prevention, stunted growth, intellectual disability, muscular dysfunction, etc.

Accordingly, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education have announced the results of Class XII on Thursday.

The highest number of 1,581 students who were of physical disability had appeared for the exam. Out of which 1,473 students have passed. There were also more than a thousand students with blindness and learning disabilities. All students with neurological disorders, growth retardation, language and speech defects, thalassemia and acid attack have passed. There are 91 students in this group.

Like regular students, the number of girls with disabilities is higher among disabled students.

Out of a total of 6,356 students, 2,131 girls had appeared for the examination. Out of which 2,026 girls have passed. The pass percentage of boys is 92.80 and that of girls is 95.07. Out of the total 22, only sickle cell diseases group had more girls than boys. In this 35 boys and 44 girls had appeared for the exam. All the girls in 9 out of 22 groups have managed to pass.
