Former CM Fadnavis allotted official residence in Mumbai

On Monday the General Administrative Department (GAD) had allotted official bungalows to the chief minister, ministers and leader of opposition.

MUMBAI: Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra has been allotted an official residence after his appointment as leader of opposition in Maharashtra Assembly.

Fadnavis resigned as Chief Minister last Tuesday after a controversial 80-hour second term that ended with the Supreme Court ordering him to prove his majority in a floor test. The BJP didn't have the numbers to pass the trust vote.

After his resignation he was hunting for new house, as he is from Nagpur and don't have house in Mumbai. According to the sources his family decided to stay in Mumbai. His wife Amruta is a senior executive in Axis Bank and their daughter studies in Mumbai. The family had moved to Mumbai after Fadnavis became Chief Minister in 2014.

So he was searching house on rent in Malabar Hill as he was not sure that he will be appointed as leader of opposition in assembly.

According to the oreder Fadvanvis has allotted Sagal Bungalow at Malabar Hill. as usual chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has alloted Varsha bungalow at Malabar Hill as a official residence of CM.

Minister Chhagan Bhujal had allotted Ramtek Bungalow at Malabar Hill, where Jaykumar Rawal Rawal was staying in this bungalow as minister in BJP government. Bhujbal was staying at the same bungalow when he was minister in UPA government. While Jayant Patil and Eknath SHinde has allotted Sevadadan and Royal STone respectively at Malabar Hill. Seva Sadan was earlier allotted to Vinod Tawade and Royal stone was with Pankaja Munde.

Fadnavis started the process of vacating the official Chief Minister's bungalow 'Varsha' in South Mumbai on Thursday, the day Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in on Thursday evening (November,28) as Chief Minister at the head of the Sena-Nationalist Congress Party-Congress alliance, the "Maha Vikas Aghadi". On the same day Fadnavis started the process of vacating the official Chief Minister's bungalow.

Thackeray's family home 'Matoshree' in suburban Bandra has always been the unofficial headquarters of the Shiv Sena.Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced that he will use the official residence for official meeting. "There is emotional relation in between me and Matoshree, so Varsh would be official residence," he said. He did not clarified that whether he will shift to Varsha or not.
