Farmer leader Raju Shetti tests positive for COVID-19

Raju Shetti, the President of the Swabhimani Shetkari Saghtana and former Member of Parliament (MP) tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The 53-year-old is receiving treatment at home under the supervision of doctors. According to reports, his family members will undergo the COVID-19 test today.

His son Saurabh Shetti informed that his father tested positive for the contagion four days back but he kept his phone switched off on the advice of doctors. Saurabh appealed to all party supporters that his father’s health condition is stable and no need to worry at all. 

The former Lok Sabha MP from Hatkanangle constituency in Kolhapur district recently led the milk agitation demanding that they be given a subsidy of Rs 5 per litre directly in their bank accounts to help them tide over the current low procurement prices amid the COVID-19. He requested the Maha Vikas Aghadi government to declare Rs 250 crore package and a subsidy of Rs 5 per litre of milk to help the dairy farmers help during the outbreak. His party also held agitations in Kolhapur, Ahmednagar and Satara in support of dairy farmers.
