DSK sent to 7 days Police Custody

Pune : Sessions court of Pune decided to send renowned Pune builder D S Kulkarni ( DSK)  to seven days police custody on Saturday. This means DSK once a leading business magnet in Pune's industrial world will now be spending next seven days in prison in police custody like ordinary accused persons.

Earlier DSK was arrested in New Delhi on Saturday morning as Bombay High Court cancelled the protection given to him against arrest.

The builder and his wife Hemanti were nabbed at a hotel in Delhi by a team of Pune police Crime Branch.

The Pune-based real estate couple was arrested as the Bombay High Court had vacated the interim protection pending their anticipatory bail, on Friday.

They have been booked by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Pune City Police on charges of cheating over 2,500 investors to the tune of Rs 230 crore. The FIR is registered with Shivajinagar police station.

“They (Kulkarnis) took the law and the court for granted and cheated not just the investors, but also the court. Therefore, interim relief is vacated and the prosecuting agency (police) is free to initiate arrest, or take any other suitable action against the applicants,” Justice Sadhana Jadhav stated in her order on Friday.
