COVID-19 is giving India’s politicians the jitters. With a number of senior politicians and ministers contracting with the infection, one more senior Cabinet Minister from Uddhav Thackeray led government in Maharashtra has been found positive for the novel coronavirus.
Dhananjay Munde, Minister for Social Justice and Special Assistance has been tested positive for COVID-19. Several political leaders are affected by the contagion. Dhananjay Munde who resides in his bungalow in Mumbai is said to be found positive when he came in contact with his servants.
According to reports, apart from the Minister, his driver, cook and other five people have tested positive. When NCP leader Dhananjay Munde arrived in Mumbai, he took the test of the infection and on Thursday, his reports were found positive.
Dhananjay Munde has become the third Minister in the Uddhav Thackeray government to found positive for the coronavirus. Dhananjay Munde, nephew of late BJP leader Gopichand Munde was also Opposition Leader in Maharashtra Legislative Council in 2014.
Earlier, NCP leader and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad tested positive. He recovered after admitted in a hospital in Mumbai for over two weeks. Also, Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Congress leader Ashok Chavan was found positive. He has been fully recovered after receiving treatment in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to the worst hit-state in the country with cases over 98,000. The state has eased the lockdown restrictions under Unlock1 permitting markets to open but with strict obedience to social distancing rules. However, religious places, shopping malls and restaurants continue to remain closed in the state.
