Coronavirus Maharashtra: 237 police personnel tested positive in last 72 hours

The Maharashtra Police reported 237 new COVID-19 positive test results amongst the force in the last 72 hours. This new addition has taken the total number of police personnel affected by the virus up to 1,040 cases.

The Maharashtra Police reported 237 new COVID-19 positive test results amongst the force in the last 72 hours. This new addition has taken the total number of police personnel affected by the virus up to 1,040 cases.

To date, 64 police personnel from the Maharashtra police have succumbed to the infectious virus. In an official statement, the Maharashtra Police informed, "237 personnel of Maharashtra police were found COVID-19 positive in the last 72 hours, taking the active number of cases in the force to 1,040. A total of 64 police personnel have succumbed to the infection."

On July 4, the country reported the largest hike of COVID-19 positive cases in a single day. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that 22,771 positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

As of Saturday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has crossed 648,315. 235,433 cases out of the total count are currently active. So far, 18,655 people have succumbed to the virus in the country, including 442 deaths which took place on Saturday. A total of 394,227 people have recovered from the infection caused due to the virus.
