CM Fadnavis trying to avoid Narayan Rane?

MUMBAI: Former chief minister Narayan Rane is still waiting for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ time for his book launch, while the chief minister is avoiding him due to pressure from ally Shiv Sena.

Narayan Rane’s autobiography ‘No Holds Barred: My Years in Politics’, which was written English, was launched in May.

Rane had penned his journey from joining the Shiv Sena to quitting it. He has also written about his tenure in the Congress and his entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, he did not join the BJP and floated his own party Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha.

Now, the Marathi edition of the same book is ready to be launched and Rane wants CM Fadnavis to launch the book on August 4.

Fadnavis going to start his ‘Mahajanadesh Yatra’ from August 1 and will not be available on the day to attend the book  launch event. Immediately after the launch of the book’s English edition, it was decided to publish the book in Marathi as well.

Rane had invited 300 dignitaries but the chief minister could not spare time and the programme was postponed. When Rane was asked about this, he said that the book will be launched on August 4.  “I have asked the chief minister for his time. However, he has not confirmed anything yet,” said Rane. Fadnavis does not want to disappoint the Shiv Sena by attending Rane’s function.

According to sources, the chief minister is keeping a safe distance from Rane even after giving him membership of Rajya Sabha from BJP’s quota.
