Central Railway cancels 24 trains till Sunday

PUNE: As many as 24 trains have been cancelled, four have been diverted and 10 trains short terminated to Pune, Miraj and Karad and 10 trains short terminated from Pune, Hubballi, Pandharpur, Kurduwadi and Miraj owing to heavy rainfall, waterlogging and landslide in Pune and Mumbai Division on the Central Railway route and Miraj-Londa section on South Western Railway. 

The railway services have been shut from August 3 due to heavy rains, waterlogging and landslides in the ghat section between Lonavla and Karjat. Major intercity trains like Deccan Queen, Intercity Express, Sinhagad Express and Indrayani Express trains have been cancelled till August 11 by the Central Railway. Similarly, four trains were diverted via Solapur, Daund and Pune.

As per the spokesperson Pune Railway Division Manoj Jhawar, “The trains are cancelled up to August 11. These trains were running not only between Pune and Mumbai but also from CSMT to Kolhapur via Pune. Also, several trains running between Pune and Kolhapur, Miraj have been cancelled. The railway staff were working to clear the track of the ghat section which was disrupted. From the past few days, Kolhapur section is also facing floods.
