Bhilar, village of books to remain closed for visitors till Jan 27

Pune: Despite being a long holiday as the Republic Day has preceded the weekend, Bhilar, the village of books, which is a popular destination for travellers and book lovers across the State will be closed for visitors.

Tourists are requested not to visit the village on January 25, 26 and 27 because of the annual village fair and several religious and cultural programmes organised only for the villagers.

Vilas Mavlankar of State Marathi Development Organisation said, “A number of people from all over the world, whose origins are in Bhilar will be visiting the village during this weekend. Thus, most of the villagers will have guests and thus won't be able to provide any service to the visitors. Therefore, in order to prevent any inconvenience to the visitors as well as villagers, we have issued this notice.”

Mavlankar also stated that they have sent emails to more than 7,000 people who have already visited the village.

On average, during the long weekends, around 2,000 to 3,000 people visit Bhilar, stated Mavlankar.
