18,000 thalis to be served in the State per day

PUNE: The State government, on the first day of the new year, released a Government Resolution (GR) for subsidised meal scheme ‘Shivbhojan’, that was announced by the Cabinet. The government has approved that a maximum of 18,000 thalis (plates or meals) per day will be served in the scheme.

Under the scheme, the government has decided to provide those in need with a plateful of wholesome food just for Rs 10 per thali. On a pilot basis, the scheme will be run at the district level.

In each plate, two chapatis, one bowl of vegetable (sabji), one portion of rice and one bowl of dal will be served for Rs 10. A budget of Rs 6.48 crore has been assigned to the scheme for the first three months.
