‘BJP ready to go with Sena’

‘BJP ready to go with Sena’

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ready for an alliance with Shiv Sena for coming General Election. This was decided at the BJP State unit meeting held in Mumbai. Apart from the alliance, the BJP also outlined a strategy to counter the NCP and the Congress party’s attack of misinformation.

Ahead of the General Elections, the BJP State unit had a meeting with the party workers. After the meeting, party leader and Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that the BJP wants to stay with the Shiv Sena in the coming election as an ally, and now, it is up to them. Sena leaders will have to take the final call.

Talking about the strategy, Mungantiwar said that the party has decided to come up with ‘point by point’ statements countering Congress-NCP’s allegation based on misinformation. “The Congress and the NCP have come up with misinformation and levelling serious allegation against the BJP, but we will counter them with a point by point statements,” Mungantiwar added.

The party is going to publish a booklet about the State government’s performance in the last four years where the party will put a comparison of NCP-Congress led government in last fifteen years. The booklet will contain how BJP-led government has streamlined the functioning of the State as against the chaotic years of the Congress-NCP government. “BJP wants Shiv Sena to stay as an alliance partner in the election to avoid split in the votes, otherwise it will help Congress alone to win back,” Mungantiwar said.

“Our party has made the decision to be an alliance partner with Shiv Sena, now it is up to the Shiv Sena to decide on whether to form an alliance for forthcoming elections or not,” Mungantiwar added. BJP has decided to set up polling booth agent at party level who will work with a team of 25 people at local level, Mungantiwar said. Earlier, there used to be around 10-15 people per booth agent. There are some 91,451 booths in Maharashtra and BJP has decided to set up booth agent for every unit. A State assembly constituency generally has 300 booths.

Five booths are clubbed together for organisational arrangement and called as ‘Shakti Kendra.’ The chiefs of Shakti Kendra will also be called soon to Mumbai for a separate meeting. According to Mungantiwar, the team of 25 will be called page-monitors who will be given one page each from the voters list. It will be the responsibility of page-monitors to meet every voter from the list and convince the voter to support BJP.
