TikTok to raise funds for NGOs through live stream event

Short-form video social networking app, TikTok organised a fundraising LIVE stream event on their app to help support the CRY and Swades Foundation towards their COVID-19 relief efforts.  

The #EveryViewCounts campaign started from April 25 which will run daily until May 8. As a step to aid fundraising to support the cause, artists in many creative mediums are taking part. The first day started with LOLDiaries - where viewers enjoyed comedy content from YouTube personality Prajakta Koli also known as Mostly Sane, content creator Anmol Sachar, and more which started from 11 am onwards. 

The second day continued with some music time with India's best talent- Salman Ali, Ankit Tiwari, Aastha Gill, Mika Singh, Yo Yo Honey Singh, and more. 

Viewers have to tune in to the app to check on the line ups, which will take place every other day under the #EveryViewCounts. You can also set a reminder for your favourite artist. TikTok will match up to Rs 5 crore donation at achieving 18 million views. 

TikTok will donate a specified amount depending on the number of LIVE views:
10 Million LIVE views = Rs 2.2 crore
14 Million LIVE views = Rs 3.4 crore
18 Million LIVE views = Rs 5 crore

Earlier this month, TikTok donated medical equipment worth Rs 100 crore to medical workers on the frontlines of the country's battle against COVID-19. This includes donating 400,000 hazmat medical protective suits and masks with support from the Union Ministry of Textile which was handed over to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. In addition, 200,000 masks were donated to the Delhi and Maharashtra Government. 

TikTok's campaign to support lockdown
To ensure that people adhere to nationwide lockdown, TikTok had also launched a campaign #GharBaithoIndia in partnership with United Nations Development Programme urging people to stay at home. The campaign featured different Live sessions such as- #DanceWithMe, #DineWithMe, Fashion Live Show, #LearnFromHome (EduTok), and more.

According to Quartz India, the Shanghai-based social networking has over 800 million users in India. It has gained immense popularity during the lockdown period.
