Wearing the right pair of shoes not only ups your fashion game but also helps you look confident and dapper. While women have plenty of choices, men’s footwear is mostly limited to floaters, sneakers and leather shoes.

Ambud Sharma, CEO and founder, Escaro Royale, a premium lifestyle luxury brand offering handcrafted shoes, exquisite bags and fashion accessories, tells us how they are reinventing men’s fashion.

As a brand, Escaro Royale offers products based on three parameters — premium, handcrafted and luxurious. The fashion house offerings are exclusively curated for the dapper connoisseurs of high-end fashion and consist of elegantly handcrafted shoes, exquisite premium bags, perfectly augmenting belts and high street fashion accessories. Its sole focus is to provide handcrafted pieces of luxury by traditional craftsman to the customer with the help of technology and a personal touch. Also, the brand focuses on technology to create breakthrough product versions and to reach out to a broader audience that is in sync with luxury market dynamism.

Technology is an excellent equaliser when it comes to the fashion sector. “A couple of decades ago, reaching end consumers was an expensive proposition because fashion retail was all brick and mortar and the channels of advertising and product-discovery were cumbersome and expensive but as time went by, millennials started consuming more and more content over the internet — and thus technology made it easy to penetrate markets through online content,” says Sharma.

He further says that product discovery is relatively inexpensive. As long as the brand’s storytelling is strong, technology enables small and upcoming brands to compete aggressively with established ones.

Moreover, O2O models and tech-enabled omnichannel retail allows for technology-led customer acquisition.

While sneakers are the preferred choice, formal shoes do have a good presence in the men’s shoe cabinet.

“The sneaker has always been a preferred choice, but now men are much more inclined towards formal styling too. Whether one has just landed a new job or need a perfect accessory to complete those tuxedoes, formal shoes are a must-have item in a man’s wardrobe,” says Sharma.

Right from the Oxfords and Brogues, to the Derby and Monks, men’s formal footwear is all set to add that extra swagger to the look.

Shoes are an investment. “Men should invest in quality leather shoes and skilled craftsmanship. It’s necessary to have formal shoes for events like private programmes or dates. It can also be a subtle addition to your everyday office wear giving you a classy, elegant look,” he says.

Ask him if leather shoes and accessories are limited to formal wear, and he says that they can be styled with both formals and casuals.

“The lighter shade shoes will go best with light grey suits. Also pairing navy blue suits with tan-brown shoes makes a young man look even younger. These days oxblood or burgundy shoes are in trend which men can flaunt with white tee and trousers,” he suggests.

Sport leather shoes can be worn with formal clothes, injecting an unexpected twist to simplistic or basic silhouettes. Best of all, they can be worn with anything from denims to suits.

It perfectly adds a stylishly relaxed touch to formal outfits. For a subtle interpretation of the trend, incorporate darker or black shoes, and keep the vivid colour alternatives for the right occasion. Also perfect for casual evening wear and stylish weekend wear, sports leather shoes look best in grey or blue tuxedos and will add plenty of interest to your outfit.
