Coronavirus Pune: Two more police personnel test positive

Two police personnel of Pune city police posted at a police station in central Pune, have been detected positive for COVID19. Till now, three police personnel have been tested positive from the same police station.

Pune: Two police personnel of Pune city police posted at a police station in central Pune, have been detected positive for COVID19. Till now, three police personnel have been tested positive from the same police station.

According to police officials, a constable and his wife had tested positive three days ago. They are undergoing treatment at YCM Hospital in Pimpri. The 14 persons who came in contact with them were quarantined, and their samples were tested. Now two more police personnel have been found positive for the viral disease.
 
Commissioner of Police K Venkatesham said all three police personnel are undergoing treatment. “We have issued orders for frequent medical check-up of police officers and constables, for screening symptoms of COVID19. For the protection of police personnel, we are providing face shield, masks, gloves, hand sanitisers. A set of guidelines has been issued for personal safety including precautions to be taken after going home”, Venkatesham said.

A team headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (headquarters) Virendra Mishra has been assigned to monitor health issues of police personnel and officers.

According to Maharashtra Police headquarters, 11 police officers and 38 police constables have tested positive for COVID-19 till Monday night at various police units in the state of Maharashtra.
