Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve on Monday warned people using social media tools against spreading false or unverified information related to COVID-19.

Pune: Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve on Monday warned people using social media tools against spreading false or unverified information related to COVID-19. The joint commissioner said that incorrect information about the number of COVID-19 victims is being spread by a section of broadcast media and social media, which is an offence.

"Broadcast media and group admins of social media should see to it that nobody is spreading false and unverified information, rumours, superstitious message related to COVID-19. Similarly, people should also use authentic medical source before spreading any such information," added Shisve.
