Cops conduct review meet via videoconferencing

PUNE: In view of the Coronavirus outbreak, the weekly Tuesday Review Meeting (TRM)-74 by Pune city police was conducted through Google Hangout on Tuesday.

Earlier, all officers used to be called to the Cops Excellence Hall at Police Commissioner’s Office in Camp.

According to officials, in the review meeting, 88 officers of the rank Senior Police Inspectors, divisional ACsP, zonal DCsP, regional Add CP, participated through video-conference from their police station / offices, while officers of CP office (CP, Jt CP, Add CP (Crime), DCP (Crime), HQ, SB etc.) participated at mini-conference hall.

The TRM was started by Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham in August 2018, after he joined as CP Pune. At the meeting, Dr Venkatesham discussed in detail the measures to be taken in view of Covid-19 specifically the various stages of Covid-19, precautions to be taken by police and citizens. He took police station-wise review of the prevailing situation, implementation of guidelines announced by district administration, measures being taken by police stations.

He checked whether all police staff have received sanitisers and masks. Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve summarised the discussion and asked zonal DCsP to ensure communication and implementation of measures to the last rung of the force.

Additional CP Crime Ashok Morale emphasised police stations should keep a watch on black marketing of essential commodities and take proactive action against such elements.

Dr Venkatesham said future meetings may be done through video conference, and urged zonal DCsP to take meetings using technology.

DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh organized this innovative concept with the assistance of PSI Bhalerao of Computer Cell, Amit Bhosle, Nitim Jain, and Wireless staff.
