Mercedes-Benz India launches V-Class Elite MPV, priced at Rs 1.1 crore

CHENNAI: In a much-awaited move, Mercedes-Benz India launched the V-Class Elite in Chennai, on Thursday. 

The V-Class Elite is an updated version of the V-Class luxury MPV that Mercedes-Benz launched in India earlier this year. 

The introduction of the V-Class Elite has added to the excitement around the luxury MPV segment in India that will also soon see cars like Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival that will directly compete with the V-Class Elite. 

The car is priced at Rs 1.1 crore (ex-showroom, India) and is available in the long-wheelbase six-seater variant only. 

The V-Class earlier was available in two variants, Expression and Exclusive, and the Elite variant hosts styling changes from the earlier versions, in the form of a new large front bumper, a changed front grille and revised LED headlights. 

The suspension system of the car has also been updated with new Agility Control that comes with selective damping system. 

Along with the standard 17-inch alloy wheels, an optional 18-inch unit will also be available. 

Mercedes has not tweaked much of the interior of the V-Class, although it does sport a larger infotainment system and turbine-style AC vents from newer Mercedes models, in the Elite version. 

Some user-friendly new features also include power-adjustable luxury seats with massage function and climate control functions like ventilation.

The Elite also sports a 640W Burmester surround sound system with 15 speakers. Leather upholstery options in silk beige or black, electric sliding doors and ambient lighting are some of the other features.

The V-Class launched in January this year pioneered the luxury MPV segment and has witnessed much success,” said Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

“We listen to our customers and now, have seen an opportunity to complete the range of the V-Class in India with the introduction of the V-Class Elite. The V-Class Elite is targeted at a wide array of potential customers comprising large families, sports enthusiasts and businesses owners who want a top-end luxury MPV that suits their lifestyles.”

Coming to the engine, Mercedes-Benz continues its transition to BS-6 compliance and the Elite gets an OM 654, 2.0 litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine. 

The company claims a time of 11 seconds for 0-100 kmph, with the help of 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox that handles transmission duties. 

The Elite variant also includes a host of safety features, including six airbags, active parking assist with a 360-degree camera and attention assist. 

The seven colour options are - Steel Blue, Selenite Grey, Graphite Grey Dark, Obsidian Black Metallic, Cavansite Blue Metallic, Rock Crystal White Metallic and Brilliant Silver Metallic.
