Ford keen on bringing down the cost of car ownership

PUNE: Leading car manufacturing company Ford India is keen on bringing down the cost of ownership and giving easy access to customers on getting servicing and availability of parts.

The company has started producing 90 per cent parts of Ford cars locally in India through which they have achieved reduction of cost of their cars and spare parts compared to other automobiles of India.

N Prabhu, Vice President, Customer Service Operations, Ford India, said that currently their spare parts are 7 per cent cheaper than other automobiles.

He said, “By reducing the prices of spare parts, customers going to dealership for servicing do not feel the pinch. The schedule service parts are also cheaper by 24 per cent. The customers have to pay Rs 38 paise per km, which is the running cost while other automobile customers have to spend more than 41 paise per km.”

He said, “Now customers brings the car for servicing once in a year while they earlier used to bring it two times in a year, as we have made changes in design and engine.”

“Generally, people believe that Ford parts and servicing is expensive, which is not true. According to Auto Car survey in 2016, they found that Ford parts and service are cheaper compared to sedan section of other automobiles,” added Prabhu.

Ford, which has six service outlets in Pune, has trained 2,000 local mechanics, including ITI students, across Maharashtra.
