Toral is the new Chakor now

Toral Rasputra has replaced Meera Deosthale in Colors’ popular show Udaan. The 22-year-old actress quit the show as she was not comfortable playing mother to an 18-year-old. This is the second time Toral has replaced a known face on a popular show. Earlier, she had replaced Pratyusha Banerjee in Balika Vadhu after it took a leap. The biggest challenge, says Toral is getting acceptance from the audience. “I have been through this before when I replaced Pratyusha. You don’t know if the audience will accept you or not in the same character. I am going through the same emotions again,” says the actress who was last seen in Sony TV’s Mere Sai.

Toral says that she is both excited and nervous about replacing Meera in Udaan. “People have liked Meera, so obviously, it will take some time to get the audience’s attention. I am sure people will finally accept me,” she adds.

Ask her what made her take up the show in the first place and she replies, “I have been watching Udaan for five years, so I know the character. It’s one of the strongest characters on screen and there was no reason for me to say no. In addition to that, I was getting back to Colors after three years.”

The actress says that she can’t imitate Meera as they are two different individuals. “I have my own way of playing Chakor. I will share my inputs while playing the character. What really worked for Meera was her innocence. She looked very innocent on screen while I look different on screen. Also, she is much younger to me. I will take time to understand the character,” Toral says and adds, “Now Chakor has become a mother and the story has taken a leap, so there won’t be any changes in the charactergraph.””

Before signing off, Toral can’t help mentioning about Mere Sai on Sony TV and how her character was very close to her real self. “I always thought I am quite similar to Anandi but after playing Bayaza Maa, I realised that I am quite close to both the characters. It was amazing playing the character. It was a beautiful journey being part of the show.”
