Song of support

Song of support

On January 26, people from all walks of life and age groups performed the Hindustani version of the Chilean Anti-Rape Song — translated into Hindi by Sapan Saran, outside TIFA Working Studios in the morning and Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha in the evening. The movement in Pune was initiated by Aditi Venkateshwaran, a performing artist, who is also a part of the Mumbai anti-rape performance squad.

Based on the work of Rita Segato, the piece was created by the Velparaiso Femenist Collective called Las Tesis. It was performed at the International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, 2019. It has been performed all over the world since.

The movement was initiated in Mumbai by Anat Speaks organisation in association with Studio Tamasha. Two performances were held on January 22 in Andheri and Versova and one on January 26 at the Juhu Beach.

The movement in Pune is supported by International Association of Performing Arts and Research (IAPAR). It plans to do more and more performances of this song.
