He has performed at some of the most prominent nightclubs across the world including Ibiza (Spain), USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Nepal. We chat him up about his music.

You’ve been in the business for two decades, how have you seen your style evolve through the years?
It’s true I have been in the business for two decades and my style has changed quite a bit over the years. The reason is that the style of music has changed drastically and the audience has changed quite a lot. The internet has given exposure to different genres of music which was not even known before. As a DJ, you have to change with time and keep yourself updated with the latest trends. My current style is that no song or genre is out of bounds for me. Whatever will make people dance and have a good time, I am going to play it.

- When you perform in clubs in Europe and the US, what do you play? What kind of music has more demand by audiences there?
I have been touring USA for last 14 years and I have seen a huge change in the audience preference there. Earlier people used to prefer pure Bollywood and Punjabi music at these events. But, now, there are a lot of local Americans and people from other backgrounds who have started attending Bollywood nights. So when I’m playing in say, Los Angeles or Houston, I do slip in some Spanish mixes or when I do play in Dubai, I would drop a few Arabic tracks just to add a local flavour.

- According to you, what have been some decade-defining music trends?
Over the last few decades there has been a vast change in different genres. Disco was popular in the ’80s and Pop music in ’90s and 2000s. I think the recent decade has seen a rise of different genres like reggaeton, soca, and dub step and of course, our own gully rap scene has taken off.

- Tell us about your new and upcoming projects. What will you be working on, in 2020?
I have quite a few projects coming up in 2020 for my official remixes for Bollywood films. But the immediate releases are 9XM Salman Khan Smash-up, Zee Monsta Mashup and official remix of Chandigarh Main.
