The team has already started shooting for the film and the Quantico actress was supposed to join them in August.
But the actress has now quit the project. Confirming the news on social media, Ali tweeted, “Yes, Priyanka Chopra is no more part of Bharat and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her... Team Bharat wishes Priyanka Chopra loads of love and happiness for life.”
There has been no confirmation about who is replacing the actress in the project, which is an official adaptation of a 2014 South Korean film Ode To My Father. The film is being produced by Atul Agnihotri’s Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd and Bhushan Kumar’s TSeries. It also stars Disha Patani and Nora Fatehi.
Though the actress is yet to release an official statement on why she decided to walk out of the project, US media have reported that the reason could be her engagement to pop singer Nick Jonas. The two have been dating for two months. People.com has quoted a source as saying the couple got engaged a week ago on Priyanka’s 36th birthday on July 18 while the two were in London.
Nick closed down a Tiffany store in New York City to buy an engagement ring, according to the insider. “They are so happy,” the source told people.com. “His friends and family have never seen him like this, and they’re all really excited for him. He’s definitely very serious about her,” the source added.
Over the last several weeks, Priyanka and 25-year-old Jonas have been spotted on several dates, including a dinner date in New York City and a Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert show in Los Angeles.
Priyanka even attended Nick’s cousin’s wedding in New Jersey in June. Later the singer flew to India to meet the actress’s mother and brother. They were even spotted holidaying in Goa.
Do we hear wedding bells anytime soon?
