FOR THAT PERFECT LOOK

FOR THAT PERFECT LOOK

Heat, humidity and sweat are some of the greatest enemies of your makeup, hair and skin. Melting make-up, smeared eyeliner and smudged lipstick are some of the woes that you have to deal with in these months. However, there are ways in which you can ensure that your make-up lasts.

Mumbai-based make-up artist Venessa D’Cruz believes that for your make-up to look good and last longer, you need to keep your skin hydrated and safe from the sun. “Drink plenty of water, use a good moisturiser and wear sunscreen under your make-up. These are the key to getting a perfect finish that stays longer. However, avoid wearing a lot of foundation in summers during the day. Use products that make your skin look good. For example, bronzer will make your face look radiant, so you don’t have to wear foundation. Apply it on your forehead, cheekbones, chin and nose so that your face will light up when you step out,” suggests D’Cruz.

She also suggests using tinted moisturisers and concealers to cover up your blemishes. “Tinted moisturisers and concealers are lighter in texture and hence they last long. They prevent your make-up from creasing and caking. Less is always more,” she adds.

However, if you think you cannot do without applying foundation, you must stick to powder foundation that doesn’t shine too much. “Liquid and luminous foundation tends to become runny when you sweat, making your face look washed out,” she adds.

Moving on to lips and eyes, D’Cruz says that it’s better to not apply mascara and kajal on your lower waterline. “If you must, then apply a thin waterproof pencil liner on your eyes and you are good to go. If you are fond of lip colours then invest in some pop colour lip tints or stains which will brighten your face,” says D’Cruz. However, before you are ready to layer it on, follow the cleansing, toning and moisturising routine daily.
