New Year, New Me

New Year, New Me

Every December 31, we announce our intentions to turn over a new leaf. As the days go by, they are waylaid. This year (or for this decade) why not look back and give ourselves some future-ready advice that will allow us to flourish and thrive in our chosen world?

A fit, healthy body
Thus far, everyone and everything came first, except my health. It wasn’t a surprise that I was diagnosed with certain health issues. So in this new decade, I can only think of leading a healthy life. A good, fit and healthy body means that you have the time to think about other aspects of your life, concentrate on your work and so on.

A healthy body means that you are not a dull person anymore and keen to engage with positive thoughts. I have made a pact with myself that I will follow a healthy lifestyle in the coming decade to achieve optimal results.

On time
I am not good at time management, because of which I would always be late in submitting my projects, interviews and even meeting friends. There have been a few occasions when I lost important opportunities. To change the course of my life, I have decided to follow a few time management exercises in the new decade — waking up on time, getting ready on time and finishing all my work. I’m sure this will help me in the long run.

Be vocal
This decade has been crazy for me. I finished college, studied abroad and got a job. In a nutshell, I got everything that I ever wanted. But I soon realised that instead of coming across as a confident person, I was full of self-doubt.
When it came to making important decisions, I would always ask people and kept my opinion reserved for the last. It’s not that people would mislead me or anything but my job demands me to be very vocal. To be a better version of myself, the only advice I would give myself is to be confident enough in any situation, be vocal and never doubt my capabilities.

Go, explore
I am a travel bug, but I haven’t seen much because I was unable to convince my family and friends to accompany me. The reason I would force my family or friends to take trips with me was because I was too scared to take the leap all by myself. But life is too short and I’ve realised that my passion can be only mine. I want to urge myself to go out and explore as many as places possible, even if it means to be a solo traveller. It’s not only the experience of exploring a new place, solo travelling is going to teach me how to be independent in an unfamiliar place. That is a lesson in itself.

Up for challenges
I’ve lived a comfortable life, which is why I got too comfortable in it. I believe that’s the reason I don’t want to try harder or challenge myself to do more. With the new year and new decade, I don’t want to settle or accept things that come easy. I want to work hard on my terms and achieve whatever goals I set for myself. It’s a good thing to challenge myself and push the limits because if I don’t, I know I won’t accomplish any goals. A life without any challenge is dull and boring. It is like a straight line on the graph.
