The month of ‘Shakespeareana’

The month of ‘Shakespeareana’

In April, The Book Club Pune brings to its members and other interested participants, a bouquet of William Shakespeare events to celebrate the Bard’s birthday.

Would you like to participate in the quiz?
Would you like to recite a sonnet or a soliloquy?
Or hold forth on a Shakespearean  topic?
Or enact a scene from Shakespeare’s plays?

You are more than welcome.

Now, here are details about the events. The first programme on Wednesday, April 10, will focus on Shakespeare’s Hamlet and sonnets. There will be recitations, audio-visuals and a discussion at the end. Mohini Khot, Latika Padgaonkar and Ahmed Khan, among others, will be making the presentation.

A week later, on April 17, students of Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts will be performing a play inspired by the Bard’s pastoral comedy, As you like it in a nautanki style. It will be followed by a quiz.

On April 30, the students of St Mira’s College will perform parodies of four of Shakespeare’s plays. There will also be features on the Bard, both serious and humourous. This will be followed by an open mic.

All the events will be held at Gyaan Adab, South Avenue, Kalyani Nagar at 6 pm.
