Jazz up your feet

Jazz up your feet

We all love shoes and we always find space for a new pair in our closet. However, not many are blessed with the ‘perfect feet’ — they could be big or small, wide or narrow. Hence finding the right pair can be a struggle. Gimme Juttis, which customises footwear, and offers colourful mojaris and Kolhapuris, can come to your aid.

Started by three friends —  Komal Vasudeva, Sheetal Vasudeva and Sushma Singh — the Ghaziabad-based startup offers footwear in eye catching colours with beautiful embroideries, dazzling embellishments and feminine designs, all meticulously handcrafted. Their Kolhapuris are comfy that you can wear to work and parties.

Sharing how their dream came true, Komal says that she and her friends had been discussing a business plan for years but didn’t dare to do something out of the box because the common notion is that ‘business isn’t meant for girls’. “One day, we just quit our jobs — digital marketing expert (Sheetal), fashion designer (Sushma) and content writer (I) — to pursue our dreams,” says Komal, adding, “Three of us always wanted to do something innovative and, most importantly, something of our own. We wanted to create something for girls/ women, something they cannot live without. Our startup also gave us a chance to work together.”

Sushma came up with the idea that they should design footwear which is unique, handcrafted and decided to sell them on social media. “We zeroed in on juttis and Kolhapuris. We penned down our thoughts and ideas and followed the framework. For more than two months, we did market research and found who could be our potential customers. Three of us combined our strengths and started working towards our goal — one handled the designing part, the other managed social media promotions and the third looked after market research. And we came up with our first creation —  handmade fusion juttis that go well with every outfit and can be worn by everyone,” recalls Komal.

The girls wanted a catchy name for their brand which was also easy to remember hence Gimme Juttis was born. Komal says, “The feedback that we received spoke volumes about how much our customers liked the products and enjoyed wearing them. It boosted our confidence and inspired us to work even harder.” These juttis and Kolhapuris are perfect for every season and can be worn by both teenagers and grown-ups. Well cushioned, the juttis are extremely comfortable and worn daily.

Bright pinks, vibrant yellows, soothing blues, bold reds, sparkling golden, vivacious violet —  the juttis are available in many colours, patterns and prints. They also have striking kadhai work to make them all the more spectacular. Komal explains, “The juttis have intricate detailing such as dabka work — a spring type of thread or a coiled thin wire, embroideries with threads and wires, sequins, seed beads, stone work and bead caps etc. Because of the designs and colours, one can team these up with any outfit — traditional, ethnic or casual, and even with a pair of jeans. The comfort and ease of the footwear help you walk fast without hindering your speed. These all are handmade and crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Besides, customisation is our USP.”

Gimme Juttis deliver its products all over the world. After taking the order details of the product from customers, they ensure that it is delivered between two to three  working days. One can order the footwear from the brand’s Facebook and Instagram pages. They are priced between Rs 600 and Rs 1,300.

Komal says, “We are moving slowly and steadily towards our goal because of our hard work and honesty. We never compromise on the quality of the product or aesthetics. Our vision is to create brand value by making different and trendy products so that more and more people know us and follow us. We aim to reach out to more people through exhibitions at different places, through social media and by making every girl fall in love with their feet.”

They plan to design Kolhapuris for men as well as kids.
