It has to be special

It has to be special

Christmas is incomplete without gifts. To help you pick gifts for your loved ones, we bring to you two startups that have a special something for everyone to bring festive cheer to them.

CLASSIC YET ECLECTIC
Nestled in the Art Deco quarter of Colaba, Mumbai, in a late 19th-century building with arched doorways, Clove, a pop-up store, offers a classic yet eclectic selection of homegrown brands spanning over fashion and lifestyle categories. Founder Samyukta Nair, says, “Its location is aimed at appealing to a diverse set — the local, the gifter, the traveller and the collector.”

This festive season, Clove is back with their second edition of ‘The Holiday Shop’. Explaining the concept, Nair says, “Bringing back the cheer from my childhood festivities, The Holiday Shop is my humble attempt at bringing the spirit of Christmas that I fondly remember growing up in the city of London.”

Every December, Clove transforms into an emporium of Christmas goodies, where holiday gifting dreams come true. “Shoppers can choose from a wide range that makes for perfect stocking stuffers like stunning baubles, buntings, refreshing teas, assorted crockery, trays, cake stands, delicate napkins, scented candles, Dandelion pyjamas, beautiful accessories including jewellery and bags,” says she.

What’s even better is that this year they have got together four homegrown brands to add sparkle to The Holiday Shop with an edit apt for your evening soirées. She adds that just don’t forget to bring a huge bag to take away those gifts for your Secret Santa goodies (and maybe for yourself too).

“Our selection will have you covered for your evening soirees, precious family moments from gift wrapping to tree decorating and help you sleigh your gifting game to make it a December to remember. After all, it is my favourite time of the year and I want to celebrate the holidays at Clove by spreading some festive cheer,” says Nair.

At Clove, they are constantly conceptualising and curating homegrown brands to delight their patrons with an experience that is not product-centric alone. They have been fortunate to work with some of the best names in the country —  Nimish Shift, The Summer House, Misho and Jodi. “Taking the idea of a pop-up one step further, recently, we’ve focussed on curating bespoken concepts as seen with Down To Earth, An Artisanal showcase by Claymen and Lovebirds, and The Holiday Shop with 431-88| Shweta Kapur, Dhruv Kapoor, Rara Avis by Sonal Verma and Kanika Goyal,” she says.

Talking about how Indians respond to pop-up studios, Nair says that Indian customers are extremely well versed and savvy. “They are looking for a well-rounded retail experience over the simple purchase of a product and pop-ups provide us with an opportunity to engage with them in meaningful ways,” she says adding  that it keeps things new and exciting. That said, a pop-up is usually short-lived and though exciting it’s tedious to put together a well-rounded concept time and again. “To create multiple ideas that can generate excitement and satisfy consumers constantly is challenging but  we like to take it in our stride,” adds Nair.

FESTIVE AND TRENDY
Crossloop , claimed to be India’s first and only designer earphones brand started by Pune-based startup Incosi Fashion, has come up with their festive collection. Shubham Khare, founder of Incosi Fashion, says that designer earphones are just the right gift to capture the festive mood of youth with its trendy, stylish and creative look. With over 15 exquisite designs combined with multiple choice of colours and shades, it certainly makes for an attractive gift.

Talking about the products that Crossloop makes, Khare says that these designer earphones are braided with cotton yarn which makes it environment-friendly as well as sturdy. “Its strength lies in durability, comfort, colour, and innovative designs because of which it resonates with the requirement of the youth.”

He says the reason he decided to come up with something like Crossloop is that using the same old, mundane, black or white earphones got a bit boring and although there were options available in the market that had a bit of colour they were not that affordable or long-lasting.

If you want to make this Christmas more musical, stylish and heartwarming, pick this gift. “What would be a more appropriate way to do this than a fast fashion accessory,” says Khare adding that as a utility product, the only challenge that they face is that a few people are extremely comfortable using the traditional or the existing earphones that they get with phones. “People usually think that since its designer earphones, they are expensive which is actually not the case. They are not only affordable but also durable and easy to use with any phone that has an earphone jack,” he says adding that since they are available in a number of colours, they do add a bit of colour to the personality, and brings out the fun side of the individual.

Khare says that the fast fashion segment is an aggressively growing category.  Like any other leading start-ups, Incosi fashions too focusses on fresh designs at affordable price points. The designer earphones by Crossloop are available on their website and leading e-commerce sites.
