I am keen on getting on the OTT platform and web series: Nora Fatehi

Nora Fatehi, who plays the lead in My Birthday Song, says that she now wants to focus on the OTT platform and web series because that’s the way forward

Indo-Canadian dancer and model Nora Fatehi is playing a pivotal role in Sameer Soni’s directorial debut My Birthday Song, releasing today (January 19). The actress says that she plays an intellectual, confident young woman and also has a bit of a spiritual and vulnerable side to her. “She is very much the catalyst of the story. She comes to this birthday party and the protagonist (Sanjay Suri) is trying to recall if he has met her in the past. She decides to keep it a mystery,” says the actress.

Nora says that her character is intense. “Initially the audience will keep wondering what this person is up to. That’s why the tagline of the film says, ‘Jo dikhta hai, woh hota nahi hai’ (what you see is not the truth),” she explains.

My Birthday Song is a very unconventional project and so is her character. Nora, who is still in the initial phase of her career in Bollywood, says that it was not so much her character, but the story that she wanted to be a part of. “The story was very different. Also, my priority was to work with people like Sanjay and Sameer who have done such good work in the industry. Sanjay has been part of National Award winning films. I wanted to be a part of their projects,” she says.

Ask her about her experience working with them and she says, “Initially it was intimidating but as days went by I became quite excited because the team was so encouraging. Also, you get to learn so much from them, they are such natural actors. They do not encourage loud acting and therefore the process was natural and real.”

Nora has a glamorous image on screen. Is she trying to get away from that image with her choice of films? “I don’t think so. I am just working on projects that are coming my way, be it songs, music videos or reality shows. I want to work honestly and give it my best shot,” she says, adding, “As long as you connect with the character and you know what the director wants, then it becomes easy as an actor to adjust quickly. As you get into the skin of the character, the process becomes easy.”

The actress, who has finished promoting her music video with Hardy Sandhu, says that she is now focusing on web because that’s the way forward. “I am keen on getting on the OTT platform and web series,” she signs off.
