FUN AND FIESTA

The National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) Pune campus at Balewadi is all decked up to host its prestigious annual tech-fest — Technikala, which will span over a period of three days, from February 8 and 10. More than 30 events across eight domains coupled with other activities will provide an enriching experience for the audience, participants and stakeholders. The fest will attract a footfall of 2,000+ students from across 50+ colleges participating in different contests and competitions.

Technikala, an annual inter-college techno-cultural fest, has been the pride of  NICMAR Pune since its inception in 2005. NICMAR takes pride in being a unique, specialised institute in the country dedicated to providing post graduate training in management of construction, projects, real estate, infrastructure and allied areas in the country. Though a specialised institute, this fest stands out from many others as it applies to a very broad range of participants, not confining itself to any particular sphere. Several events spread over various domains like technical, literary, business, design, sports, cultural, gaming and informal is open for all. For those who are unable to attend the campus for this three-day extravaganza, many virtual events in business, technical and design genres are also being organised.

To the students of this institute, Technikala is not just about the events but a platform to create awareness about several causes which impact people’s’ lives and surroundings. This year, the emphasis is to awaken the spirit of patriotism and to pay tribute to all the martyrs of the armed forces who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. To honour this cause, NICMAR Pune had organised NICMARathon 2019 on February 2. Various other promotional events like bike rally, blood donation camp etc were also conducted.

Apart from these promotional events, a flash mob was organised on February 1 and 2 at Balewadi High Street and FC Road, respectively, which came as a pleasant surprise for the public. The students put up a splendid dance performance which mesmerised onlookers. The energy and enthusiasm of students grabbed the attention of the crowd. From this, it would be right to say that the same zest will persist in the upcoming extravaganza.

What is a college fest without mind-blowing music that gets the crowd on their feet? NICMAR has a legacy of bringing in the most popular artists from the entertainment industry like Euphoria, Nakash Aziz, Aditi Singh Sharma in the previous years. This year, the college is bringing Darshan Raval, who is a rising star in B-town known for his melodious music and charming looks, for their proshow night on the first day of the event. He is the voice behind famous, peppy and melodious numbers like Chogada, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Kamariya, Tera Zikr and many more. So you can imagine the excitement that is building up among students of the institute as well as Darshan fans.

From facilitating and enhancing networking skills to helping students get better at man-management and speaking skills, this fest provides students a great learning curve, amassing things they’d label as ‘wonderful memories’ for the participants as well as the organisers.

Having a plethora of events, the fest also has prizes worth more than Rs 700,000. Looking at the promotional spree, Technikala 2019 promises to be a fun-filled learning experience not short of entertainment on a scale much bigger than the previous years.
