Festivities begin

With the Jingle Bells season coming up, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Hinjewadi has begun to spread Yuletide cheer. The hotel recently hosted the timeless tradition of cake mixing ceremony with a private soiree by Athena Salim, general manager. Food bloggers from the city, along with Club Marriott guests, attended the event.

During cake mixing ceremony, which marks the beginning of the December festive season, dry fruits are soaked in different types of liquors for more than a month so that the mix is ready for baking Christmas Plum Cakes. The mix at Courtyard by Marriott was prepared with an assortment of fruits such as cashews, almonds, figs, apricots, raisins, black currents and other ingredients, along with a variety of spices and a selection of rum, whiskey and cognac. The mixture will be left to soak till before Christmas, when the sealed containers will be opened for the baking of delicious Christmas cakes.

Following the classic tradition, guests and associates put on the chef’s apron and cap and revelled in Christmas cheer. Setting a jovial mood, the ceremony also saw guests enjoying a perfect October afternoon along with generously flowing exquisite wines and interesting delicacies lined up by Rounak Kinger, executive chef and his team. Commenting on the occasion, Salim said, “Cake mixing heralds the festive mood of Christmas. It is an immense pleasure to organise such an event that is full of joyful activities.”
