Dogs’ day out

Dogs’ day out

Parties and get-togethers are always fun. Wearing fancy clothes, catching up with friends, gorging on delicious food, dancing to music... parties are all these and more. Now, how about taking your four-legged friend to a Sunday brunch or a pool party where they can have their fair share of fellow canine interaction?

KEEPING ’EM HAPPY
“Dogs are social animals and they too love socialising and playing with other friendly pets,” says Priya Poduval, founder, Peppy Paws Resort, Saswad Road, Sudarshannagar. A premier resort that caters to all the needs of your pets, Peppy Paws hosts all types of parties ranging from dog birthday parties, pool parties, swim sessions, pet socials and even a Sunday pet brunch and buffet. The pet socials are held every Sunday.

Poduval says that since Pune did not have a dedicated pet park, she, along with her husband, decided to open a space that was entirely dedicated to recreational activities to keep furry guests happy and entertained in a safe, healthy and fun environment.
Dog parties, which are gaining momentum in the city, are an excellent way for both the pets and their owners to participate in a safe pet-friendly environment, where the pets can enjoy a leash-free time.

PET-FRIENDLY MUNCHIES
While having fun it is also important for your four-legged companion to munch on something that is pet friendly. “We tie up with pet bakers who provide cupcakes, cakes, popsicles, vanilla ice cream, to name a few, which are all pet friendly,” says Poduval.

Talking about how the parties commence, she says, “Dogs get to splash in the pet pool which is specifically designed for pets and there is also a huge fenced play area with lots of pet-friendly toys.”

BONDING TIME
Sneha Diana Gopalan, a pet parent, says, “It is important for dogs to interact with other dogs as it makes them more social and helps them build trust.” She recalls attending her pet, Whisky’s first birthday along with her other siblings and their biological mother and the other pet parents. “It was a stimulating experience for all the pets as they not only ran around a lot and enjoyed themselves but also bonded with each other,” she adds.

LEARN TO GIVE RESPECT TO HUMANS
Sunny Luthra, founder of Oh My Dog, believes that dogs, like humans, love to be with their own species and with different species too. “Socialising with other dogs and humans is very important for a dog’s psychological growth. Dogs help each other by teaching social manners and they also learn to give respect to humans,” says Luthra, dog behaviourist who works with humans and dogs to close the communication gap so that humans and dogs can have the deepest connection.

Luthra adds that mentally-balanced dogs can help dogs with nervous or anxiety issues to overcome unstable energies and become mentally balanced again. “Dogs learn from each other, we nurture the good behaviour which they learn and block the wrong behaviour,” says Luthra.
