Monday, 13 April 2020

Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar joined hands with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to raise awareness about the novel coronavirus.

In a video that has been released by UNICEF India, Manushi is seen urging people to stay home and practice social distancing to stay safe.

Manushi said, “As a citizen, it is my duty to stand up and do my bit to raise awareness on issues pertaining to us. Coronavirus has thrown us all into unchartered territory and it is an extremely critical situation that’s affecting us all. I’m honoured to be part of UNICEF’s initiative to make my fellow citizens aware of the tremendous threat that exists if they decide to step outside their homes. It is an extremely important campaign that all Indians should take note of, to stop the infection and save lives.”

“I’m staying at home right now because I want to make sure that my friends, family and also all of you are safe.”

Manushi’s much-awaited debut will be opposite to Akshay Kumar in Prithviraj.

She recently also stated about the dos and don’ts that people should keep in mind if they step out of their home. The Miss World 2017, said, “Social distancing means staying at home and when we go out for groceries, maintaining one metre or more distance between yourself and another person. However, the physical distance doesn’t mean we are not together or that we don’t care about each other. Right now, we all have to support each other, so let’s do this!”

Manushi also said about how people can still show each other that they care. “We can show neighbours that we care by waving, by saying namaste, by sending a message or calling to check in on a friend or relative to see how they are,” concluded Manushi.
