Comedy Comes Naturally To Me

Comedy Comes Naturally To Me

After the dark and intense revenge thriller Hate Story 4, Urvashi Rautela’s next Pagalpanti is a madcap comedy. The actress will be seen playing three different characters in the film which has an ensemble star cast. Her role suggests that she is a ghost, gymnast and janitor, all of which are essential to the story. “The trailer shows that there is a certain kind of confusion about my character. Audiences or the other characters in the film can’t figure out if I play a ghost or janitor. There is a surprise element to it,” she says.

The film is releasing on November 22 and Urvashi can’t believe that the promotions are coming to an end. “I am going to miss my Pagalpanti family. It was such a great experience working with the team. I enjoyed myself. But every good thing has to come to an end. It’s a good film and now it’s up to the audience,” says the actress.

The Anees Bazmee directorial stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Illeana D’cruz, Saurabh Shukla, Kirti Kharbanda, Pulkit Samrat and others. Urvashi says that it’s been a great experience working with the entire team, specially John, Anil and Anees. “I bonded the most with them. I am an outsider, just like John but the way he has built his career is very inspiring. In fact, both Anil sir and John are very inspiring in terms of their fitness and how they deal with their life. The most fulfilling part of my job is to work with people who motivate me,” she says.

She adds that she had to work harder as she was sharing screen with such talented actors. “They have done such fabulous work. You have to add to the scene when you are acting with them. You have to give your best,” she says.

She adds that she enjoys watching “Anees Bazmee kind of comedy”. “I have loved all his films, from No Entry to Welcome Back. This film is a milestone in my career,” she adds.

The former beauty queen made her Bollywood debut opposite Sunny Deol in Singh Saab the Great. She then worked in Sanam Re, Mr Airavata and Great Grand Masti.

Urvashi says that comedy comes naturally to her. “I am a very funny person in real life. My team keeps telling me that. I want to create a niche for myself in this genre. Earlier, whenever people used to think about comedy genre, they thought about Sridevi ma’am and Juhi (Chawla) ma’am. I want people to think of me in a similar manner.”

But does she feel that the industry and audience are yet to accept her as a performer and they do not go beyond her good looks. “That’s the reason I have signed the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thiruttu Payale 2. I am doing it with talented actors like Viineet Kumar and Akshay Oberoi. I am the solo female lead and it’s a very different, non-glamorous role,” she says, adding, “As an actor, I want to play wide variety of roles.”

She says that the first schedule of Thiruttu Payale 2 has already been shot in Varanasi. “We will start shooting the second schedule from November 25 in Lucknow,” she adds before signing off.
