A Coffee Shot For Your Skin

A Coffee Shot For Your Skin

There are people who cannot start their day without a cup of coffee. But did you know that coffee can also help revitalise your skin and hair? Caffeine present in coffee, tea, and chocolate is a rich source of antioxidants and has several benefits for the skin and hair. For the skin, it prevents puffiness on the face, even tones the skin and the antioxidants fight free radicals which help ease out fine lines. Similarly, for hair, caffeine penetrates deep down to the follicles and energises them. This action promotes hair growth. Not only this, caffeine combats hair damage and strengthens the roots which prevents breakage. Keeping this in mind mCaffeine, claimed to be India’s first caffeinated personal care brand, was launched by Tarun Sharma and Vikas Lachhwani.

Focusing on the millennial lifestyle, mCaffeine makes premium world-class products using coffee, tea and chocolate. “mCaffeine leverages the great benefits of caffeine for skin and hair. It Caffeine is a super-food for skin and hair as it prevents hair fall and has anti-inflammatory properties for the skin,” says Sharma. The brand embodies the millennial ethos with key principles of: clean label (natural as a choice), why hurt (no animal testing), confidence over colour (don’t sell insecurities or fairness products).

Talking about the brand’s philosophy, Lachhwani says, “The simple thought of confidence over colour guided the development of mCaffeine as a personal care brand because inner beauty trumps everything else... With the market full of brands that make you look down upon yourself, mCaffeine is a brand that will never sell insecurities.”

Sharma adds that India is now seeing innovations in areas which were once dominated by imported products and foreign brands. “Caffeine is one of the strongest lifestyle trends in India, especially among the millennials who are inclined to base their selection of personal care products on brands that reflect their lifestyle and connect with them. mCaffeine is a brand for the bold, young and confident,” explains Sharma.

Caffeine is the primary ingredient in all their products. “The effectiveness of caffeine is well researched and documented in the latest dermatology and trichology findings which say that it reaches deep down to the hair follicles and strengthens the roots and hence delays hair fall. On the skin, it works as a powerful antioxidant, tones the skin and reduces puffiness,” adds Lachhwani.

In its current portfolio, mCaffeine offers 10 products in three major categories —  hair, face and body. The founders explain that one of their bestsellers is the Coffee Body Scrub which is crafted with pure Arabica coffee and cold-pressed coconut oil. Pure Arabica coffee gently exfoliates and polishes the skin while reducing cellulite. “Unlike other scrubs, our body scrub doesn’t dry out the skin as the coconut oil nourishes the skin and keeps it hydrated,” says Sharma.

Another product which has clicked with customers is Choco Body Butter with caramel which deeply moisturises while the argan oil present in the body butter hydrates the skin giving one noticeably softer skin. The irresistible chocolatey fragrance is a bonus. Other products include the Coffee Face Scrub, Coffee Face Mask, Choco Body Butter and a whole lot of Green Tea skincare and haircare products.

mCaffeine spends a lot of time building a research and development ecosystem for product development. “We continue to explore ways to enhance our R&D capability for the benefit of customers,” says Lachhwani. At present, they are focusing on the Indian market but they do have plans to grow globally.

mCaffeine products are available on Amazon, Nykaa, Flipkart, and on its portal www.mcaffeine.com
