Bowled over!

Bowled over!

On Sunday, when South Africa was playing Bangladesh during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, an extraordinary event during the match left social media fans impressed.

Ian Kington, an AFP photographer, who was on duty at the pavilion end of the ground, caught a catch single-handedly.

Kington caught the ball when South African captain Faf Du Plessis hit a six that flew in his direction. He was holding a large telephoto lens in one hand and caught the ball with the other.

The cameras captured Kington, smiling broadly, showing the crowd at Oval Stadium the ball he caught. As soon as the video got uploaded on ICC’s Twitter handle, netizens couldn’t stop sharing their reaction and the video got several re-tweets.

Many said that Kington was in the wrong profession and cricket teams could make use of his fielding skills.

He later said, “I’ve never played cricket in an actual team, I’ve just joined in a bit with my mates.”

Talking about the new found stardom, he added, “My phone keeps going off. It’s nice to do something, that means you’ve got a story to tell. But I guess that’s my five minutes of fame.”

Post ICC Cricket World Cup, there will be discussions about some of the greatest catches and this one is going to top them all!
