Boom It Up!

Boom It Up!

Don’t we all enjoy watching movies in the multiplexes? It’s the surround sound and its quality that makes our experience there so wonderful. However, watching films in multiplexes can be an expensive affair. Why not build a good home theatre system instead?

But, choosing one speaker out of the thousands that are available in the market can be difficult. Fret not,
Himanshu Jain, CEO and MD, Acro Engineering Company, gives us some great tips on building a good home audio system.

A guide to buying speakers:

Set a limit on price: You can buy the most expensive speakers and still be left wanting. So you need to fix beforehand how much you are willing to spend. You need to let go of the notion that if you have money, you have to spend all of it, because you stand a chance to find something great at a cheaper price.

Placement of the speaker: You need to first decide the place where you would keep your speaker, that way you can set a bar on the dimensions and the shape of the speaker.

Acoustics of the room: Your environment can have a great influence on your overall listening experience. If your room has too many hard surfaces, you would get a greater amount of reverberations and that will alter what you hear.
Are you staying in your home? This matters because if you are living in temporary accommodation, you have to buy speakers that you can place on a table. In your home, you can put them on the wall. The more solid and sturdy the mounting is, the better reproduction of sound you can get from your system.

Ease of installation: Sometimes a good speaker system can be a major pain to install. Sometimes it helps to have an audio system that can easily be installed or moved around, if the situation calls for it.

Play them: You will have your listening preferences. Therefore, make sure that the speaker system that you buy will have an audio signature that best suits your genre of music. The best way to choose is to test the speakers.

Now that you have decided which speaker system will give you the best results, here are a few tips on how to use and maintain them.

Keep them clean: Speakers generally stay in one place. That means, it’s pretty easy to forget that they’re even there, even if you’re using them every day. Some basic dusting now and then, can be enough to make sure that they continue to perform at their best level.

Don’t Max-out: Speakers are made to generate sound but playing them at maximum capacity puts more strain on your audio drivers. This can reduce the life expectancy of the speakers.

Keep them in one place: The internals of a speaker system can be very delicate. Too much movement can cause some soldering to come loose which can compromise the whole system.
