Book on 26/11 attack to be made into digital series
The show will be a multi-episode digital drama series that will explore the various facets of the attacks which spread terror across India’s financial capital
Contiloe Pictures has acquired the rights of the bestselling book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11 and plan to develop into premium digital series. The book by Sandeep Unnithan details the terrorist attack that plunged the city in chaos.
The show will be a multi-episode digital drama series that will explore the various facets of the attacks which spread terror across India’s financial capital, and how Indians — from ordinary civilians to highly-trained commandos — responded.
“Black Tornado encapsulates key details of the three nights and the operation around the multiple sieges. While our nation saw the graphic imagery of terror on TV, they know little about the counter-insurgency by our commandos and the human interest stories behind these images. We are looking forward to working with Sandeep, the author of the book, closely to bring authenticity to the audience,” said Abhimanyu Singh, founder and CEO, Contiloe Pictures.
“Excited that Contiloe Pictures is adapting Black Tornado for its premium digital series. The Mumbai 26/11 attacks and the lessons from them must never be forgotten,” added Unnithan. The casting of the show is currently underway and is expected to be launched later this year.
